| Terry Shelley |
| Terry is the Data Analyst for Sound Recording.
It is her informative and helpful voice you hear on the telephone
when you are looking for a check or contract or reporting a sound
recording session. Terry works closely with Business Rep. Kathryn
Danielle in the Sound Recording Department making certain all musicians
get their fair share under the terms and conditions of the Sound Recording
Agreement. |
| Terry was born in Queens, New York from parents
of Puerto Rican descent. She grew up in Queens, New York, married
and had a son. She decided to relocate here in California in the 60’s
finding a job right down the street from Local 47 with Kingsley Machine
Shop as an office worker. |
| Ten years later, looking for a change, Terry
came to work at Local 47 in the Phonograph Record Department. She
had four employees working under her during that busy period in 1975,
the height of the disco era. Everyone that was anyone was making disco
recordings and the phonograph department was the busiest department
at Local 47. |
| When the disco era died so did the need for all
those employees in the phono department, so Terry took on the task
of running the whole thing herself. She worked closely and effectively
with the then heads of all the major record companies who came to
rely on her for scales, working conditions and other contract information. |
| After 27 years in the business, Terry still has
the best files in the department and still runs a desk that never
slows down. She works three days a week here in the Electronic Media
Department. Because of her dialysis treatments she has had to cut
back on her workdays. Terry does more business in those three days
than some employees do in a five-day week. |
| Terry’s consistent good humor and willingness
to help others as well as her knowledge of the sound recording agreement
and the record business in general make her a valued and trusted employee.
|
| Congratulations Terry. |
